There were a few things I picked up while in Wyoming. And if you didn’t discern it from my twitter or facebook chatter, it was NOT an elk.Wyoming was completely back ordered on elk. They all left town when they heard I was coming.
And even though I’m left wondering how I’m going to write elk recipes for my book now, there were a few other things I saw along the way…
Buffalo Bill story books for example. He’s like Tom Cruise of the wild west.
And Ethel Merman in Annie Get Your Gun. I really love that song, have you ever heard it? My parents dressed up in old school clothing once and sang it for some event… it’s seared into my childhood memory.
Annie get your gun, get your gun, get your gun…
I took home this leather fringe skirt with me. It was the right thing to do.
And this. A rhinestone holster. I’m having one custom made as we speak.
And these chaps to match.
And this sofa because it matches the outfit.
And a smoking jacket. Every girl needs one.
As well as the silver cowboy boots.
And then I took them.
This is a serious saddle. But I decided to leave it behind because I don’t have a horse to go with it.
And then there were these lovely western cowboys everywhere. They were awfully rowdy though.
And the guns, oh the guns.
This is what my personal gun reserve looks like at home.
Little ones too, with pearl handles.
This is considered the most perfect specimen ever hunted according to the Boon and Crockett scoring. Which I don’t really understand, but it has to do with symmetry and size and all those other things that men care about.
They had some of the perfect specimens on display.
This all looked remarkably similar to my living room.
Paddles for antlers.
And some serious teeth. That walrus was good at flossing.
There was every kind of gun you could imagine.
With some of the most elaborate hand engraving. It’s really an art form.
And every old company was represented, like this Remington case.
If I were going to make a western movie, this is where it would be.
I would call myself a dude rancher too because I think it’s a funny name.
Do you have a favorite western movie?
