Are You Ready? Am I?

Today is September 1st. In case you didn’t have it in big bold letters on your calendar. With gold star stickers. Like I do.

September 1st is the day my book officially meanders into book stores everywhere. Just strolls right in and plops itself down. Preferably in a window, or at the very least on an upright book stand. Hopefully not in a cold dark corner. But one never knows with books. They are completely unpredictable and unreliable.

People keep asking me if I’m excited. And for some reason that question sounds strange to me.

Because what I hear is, “Are you excited for people to see you naked?”

Isn’t that what people have scary dreams about? Am I supposed to want that?

I am?

I think the better word is dazed, terrified, relieved, reflective, tired, content.

I’ve called it a marathon in the past, but I think now it’s more of an Iron Man. I’m sore, but very content that I got to the end.

And then I started going through all of the materials that I have collected for you guys on the For Readers Only Page and that has made me grin endlessly. It’s been like re-living my travels all over again and meeting the warm generous people in Food Heroes for the first time.

I’m going to share a taste, because I love ya and you deserve it.

Here is a slide show of each food hero and their craft:

And here is a rough video of Sue Forrester who lived in Cumbria and made up poems in her head while she churned butter. This one is my favorite. Sue ended each poem with a sip of tea and a mischievous smile.

“A Bit of Binder’s String”

Don’t you love the Cumbrian dialect?

Here are a few of the places where you can order the book and read another of Sue’s poems:

Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders, IndieBound

Or you can meander into a book store just like my book and see where it has plopped itself down.

Just watched a number of the little video clips. Now I am smiling, too.

Oh I'm so glad! I'm still working on the page as you can see but it will get prettier as time goes on. I didn't realize it would take me a while, I forgot how much video and photo I had collected!

Great pictures. I know the book will be great and I can't wait to get it. You really have hit on a subject so many of us have forgotten about, the Food Heroes in our own lives. The people we watched and learned from and gain a respect and desire to cook good food…and so much more than that. Thanks.
