Facial Toner

Toners function as a skincare product to restore the pH of your skin that can be disrupted by cleansers with alkaline properties. Thus, toners that are mildly acidic are perfect for bringing the pH of your skin back down. Making a toner out of apple cider vinegar is super simple – simply mix a 1:2 ratio of vinegar and water. Store this in a glass container and apply a few drops on a cotton round to tone.

Dandruff

Dandruff can be attributed to a variety of issues including fungi, pH imbalance, irritation, and oil production. Thankfully, the anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and balancing properties of apple cider vinegar can address all of these culprits. With a 1:1 ratio of apple cider vinegar to water, apply to your scalp after shampooing, by pouring or with a spray bottle. Leave it on for 15 minutes and rinse or leave it in to dry. Do this once every two weeks and say hello to shinier hair and a happier scalp.

Deodorant

Let’s face it – we all sweat! However, the sweat that we release from our sweat glands are odorless. It is the bacteria on our skin that interact with sweat and produce body odor. Luckily, the mildly acidic pH of apple cider vinegar is a natural way to address this. For less sensitive skin, feel free to use apple cider vinegar on a cotton round under your arm pits. For more sensitive skin, a ratio of 1:1 apple cider vinegar to water is appropriate. You can also soak your feet in diluted apple cider vinegar for the same purpose.

Sunburn

With sunnier days creeping up in the next few months, applying sunscreen is so essential. However, there are always those moments when we forget to apply as often as we need to. Thankfully, we have apple cider vinegar for those times. Going back to its pH-balancing properties, apple cider vinegar reduces blistering and pain. After a long day in the sun, take a cool bath with a cup of apple cider vinegar for a quick fifteen-minute soak. For smaller areas, you can also soak a washcloth in diluted apple cider vinegar.

Washing Produce

We’ve reviewed the anti-bacterial properties of apple cider vinegar on your skin so naturally, this is applicable to your vegetable skin. To really ensure the safety of your fruits and vegetables, mix a 1:3 ratio of vinegar to water in a spray bottle. Spray your produce and allow it to sit for 30 seconds before massaging its surface under water. Any vinegary taste will be washed away and your produce skin will be cleaner.

Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

Salad Dressing

Apple cider vinegar is an excellent way to elevate your salad in a pinch. There are a variety of ways you can incorporate its flavor but the easiest method is a simple oil and vinegar dressing. Prepare a 1:1 ratio of apple cider vinegar and olive oil in a glass jar and store for easy access. Ingredients like pepper, garlic, or even honey are excellent complements. When you’re ready to toss your salad, simply shake your jar to emulsify the liquids and it is all ready to go.
