I’m always looking for my next big DIY project that will get me into the creative process. DIY ideas are especially good for weekends when I want to feel productive and create something. Below I’ve collected some of my favorite ideas that I think will help you tap into your inner modern pioneer this weekend.
I’m loving these Chalkboard Paint Dipped Wine Glasses from Just A Shot of Crazy. The best part is, they are super easy to do! All you need is some of your favorite wine glasses and some chalkboard paint which you can buy at a pretty reasonable price or you can even make your own. Dip the base of the glasses into the paint, let sit dry, and you’ll have the perfect glasses for a fun girls night in. My next book “Modern Pioneering” (March 4th) has a great variety of projects with chalk paint that I think you’ll just love.
I love this DIY Garden Planter. I actually made this one myself and love how it turned out. It may take some time and effort but the end product is totally worth it. It’s also very easy to customize the planter to almost any size you want as well as painting it to any color. It will inspire you to get ready for the warmer months!
Creating homemade candles is one of my favorite projects. Not only do you get a lot of use out of them, but they are a quick and easy way to create customized pieces. These Homemade Beeswax Candles that I made last year with family was a fun way to get creative. This would make a fun Valentine’s day project for anyone as well.
If you can’t tell, I’m really liking dip-dyed projects right now. DIY ideas like these Dipped Kitchen Utensils are easy ways to make generic items around the house special. I’ve found that when I enjoy the items I’m working with, I just have more fun. Try out this trend with flower pots, furniture legs, and jewelry.
This was a DIY staircase stenciling project that I completed on my new house last year. Although the project took a little time and a lot of hard-won lessons, I think it was well worth it. This Staircase Makeover is the perfect house project to take on when you have a free long weekend.
If you’re looking for a simpler project that will give you a fun piece of art to put around the house, try out these DIY Drip Candles. I did this one with a color drip candle but have had suggestions to try it with a plain white candle, and then add a colored one on top of that. This is just a fun and unique project that anyone can do.
I’m always up for a fun DIY project that let’s you really create something and explore your pioneering spirit. I hope you give some of these a try and find some projects that you can have fun with!
