My grandmother isn’t cooking anymore. She isn’t as mobile as she used to be, which is a loss for her and also a loss for this website since we enjoyed her recipes so much and because I enjoyed cooking with her so much.
But I can remember the times we did spend in the kitchen together and her cookie jar and strange trinkets that she had strewn about.
That is how I like to imagine her and her kitchen. And she still shares her food wisdom with me anyhow.

Dear Georgia: What a delightful surprise to come across your web site and find out what you have been doing these last years since I or your family has been in touch. A chemistry professor from Wellesley posted your site on the faculty staff board and urged faculty to view what an interesting project and career one of our graduates was embarked on. Do write when you can and catch me up on the Pelligrinis… how is your grandmother Frances? Best wishes always Mary Ellen Ames

Oh, my, goodness. I am floored right now. MARY ELLEN!!! I'm so excited to hear from you… my great-aunt's freshman year Wellesley roommate. I'm emailing you now. xoxo
