What’s on your Thanksgiving menu? I’ll go first, I like going first.
2 woodcock, 2 pheasant, 2 ducks, 2 pigeons, string beans, salad, sweet potatoes, baked apples… and a pear tree.
I’m in England and I’m pretty sure they don’t celebrate the pilgrims escape from England and visit to the new world. But I had a lovely hunt in the British countryside and there are lots of birds hanging from the fire escape and waiting to be plucked here in London.
See? I never change. Except for the British accent I’m developing.
It will certainly be different from my Last Thanksgiving but I think a feast of wild birds is good to have once in a while. It keeps life exotic.
If you’re looking for some last minute inspiration, here are some ideas from me to you:
Brine your turkey! Brine 1 or Brine 2
An alternative to turkey? Braised Pheasant Legs with Cabbage & Grapes
Life is better with Badass Biscuits
Sides like Winter Squash and Brussels Sprouts
And dessert… or as they say here in England.. Puddings:
And don’t forget the Turkey Stock when you’re finished, (aka liquid gold)!
So what’s on your menu this year dahlings?

All of your game birds sound yum! We're hosting our families this year in S.F. and cooking: 2 turkeys (one roasted, one fried or barbecued if we can't find a deep fryer in time!); leek bread pudding; cranberry & orange sauce w/ Grand Marnier; salad & whatever other green veg look good at the market; mashed sweet potatoes; wheat rolls; walnut & apple pies; pumpkin cupcakes. Happy Thanksgiving!

I really don't know wha't's on the menu aside from the pumpkin cheesecake with pecan crumble I'm bringing, but I'm sure it will all be wonderful! Your game bird medley sounds delightful. Happy Thanksgiving!

So many of them sound delicious! I particularly love the Pumpkin Custard and Quince Four Ways. The quince recipe is very useful for me because I'm clueless about this ingredient :0 Happy Thanksgiving!

Organic turkey and a sirloin tip elk roast (any tips for me on cooking that?). Roasted brussel sprouts with bacon and apple. Wild rice stuffing. Pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin bread pudding with whiskey sauce AND chocolate pecan pie. Spinach quiches for breakfast before church.
Have a wonderful day, Georgia!

Love the accent! 🙂
Four families coming together today, my tasks are two veggie side dishes and something sweet…I just picked up Molly O'Neill's book, One Big Table, and cooked a squash casserole and corn pudding from it. Then I made some hazelnut cookies.
Safe hunting!
Cheers!
