I’m so excited for you guys to see the premier of my new show “Wild Food” on Travel Channel airing Monday, May 14, at 11 pm EST/ 10pm CT! With a second airing Sunday, May 20th at 2pm EST / 1pm CT.
It takes place in the Louisiana bayou! And one of the best parts was being out in nature and gathering all of the wild ingredients for the big feast I cooked up at the end of the episode. The locals really pack some heat into their cooking, especially in their amazing crawfish boils. So it inspired me to come up with my own Cajun Spice Mix Recipe right in my home kitchen, so I can have a little Louisiana in my life any day I want. I thought I’d share it here for you to try as well! Let me know what you think.
Cajun Spice Mix Recipe:
This was me and my local friends pulling out the tasty crawfish from the swamp. There were so many!
This was our incredible crawfish boil. Wait until you see all of the delicious ingredients we put in there on the show.
And this was me with a smorgasbord of crawfish laid out before me on a table. I couldn’t stop eating them. Neither could the producers and executives from the show!
Eating crawfish is a bit of an art. You can see my tutorial on How to Eat a Crawfish HERE.
There were some very funny moments while eating them with the locals and boy were we sweating by the end of it. So much spice! And so much goodness.
And the best part is that all of the extra ingredients we put in there also soaked up the flavor.
To make it at home I put together a medley of spices that make up the perfect cajun spice mix recipe and measured them out.
Then I combined them all in a glass jar I had saved. You can upcycle used spice jars very easily and save them for new spice mixes.
Give it a gooooood shake!
And be sure to label it. I have these nifty labels with chalk pen that I used.
Voila! There you have it. Check out this recipe below, it’s printable so you can add it to your recipe files.
